Magura welcomes golden boy

Tigers captain Shakib Al Hasan was given a warm reception on his arrival at his hometown Magura yesterday after historic triumph in West Indies and Zimabwe.
All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan led the Tigers from the front to set an unprecedented record on foreign soil. The Tigers completed a Test and ODI series whitewash against West Indies before swatting aside the Zimbabwe side 4-1 in the ODIs.
The district sports association in collaboration with the district civil administration arranged the reception to welcome Shakib, whom deputy commissioner of Maugra received near Garai Bridge, some 15 km off the town, followed by a parade in a large motorcade.
Magura DSA officials, local political and socio-cultural leaders, relatives of Shakib including his parents and several thousands fans greeted their hero with a garland of flowers.
Later, a reception was held at the Asaduzzaman auditorium with DC Mohammad Dilwar Bakht as the chair. The meeting was attended amongst others by additional deputy commissioner Tarikul Alam, chairman of Magura sadar upazila Abu Nasir Bablu, DSA officials Alhaj Makbul Hossain and Aminul Islam Chandu Mian, Shakib's father Mashrur Reza and mother Shirin Reza.
