Myanmar returns 9 Bangladeshi fishermen

Myanmar today returned nine Bangladeshi fishermen apprehended by their Border Guard Police (BGP) from Naf River in Teknaf on November 10.

The fishermen were handed over to Border Guards Bangladesh by BGP today afternoon after a flag meeting, said Lt Col Md Faisal Hasan Khan, commander of BGB Battalion-2.

On November 10, the BGP members apprehended the nine fishermen and took their boat from the Naf River in Teknaf, he said.

BGB had been working hard to bring them back since they were captured, Col Md Faisal Hasan Khan, who led Bangladesh side in today's meeting, said.

Arrangements have been made to keep the returnees in the institutional quarantine, he added.
