Muhith to propose JS banning hartal

Finance Minister AMA Muhith said today he will table a proposal before the next parliament for enacting a law seeking ban on hartal to save lives and economy of the country.
“Hartal should be banned. Whoever calls hartal now becomes violent and this type of protest is not acceptable at any cost,” Muhith told reporters after a meeting with a delegation of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) at his secretariat.
On banning Jamaat-e-Islami, the finance minister said that he will not place any proposal on it, adding that Jamaat should be declared as a terrorist party.
“Jamaat also attacked my house in Sylhet,” he said.
The finance minister pointed out that the first challenge of the incoming government is to restore the law and order in the country.
“No development is possible in the country if law and order situation is not maintained,” he added.
Replying to a query as to whether he will remain as the finance minister in the next cabinet, Muhith said, the prime minister will take the decision.
