Maruf appeals suspension
Celebrated coach Maruful Haque yesterday appealed his one-year suspension which was imposed by the Disciplinary Committee of Bangladesh Football Federation on August 24.
The UEFA Pro License (Part-1 completed) coach was in UK attending his second part exams when the suspension was imposed and he failed to appeal during the stipulated time period. He made a delayed appeal for lifting his suspension yesterday.
"We have received Maruful Haque's appeal for withdrawing his suspension. We will refer this appeal to the Appeal Committee and they will take the final decision," informed BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag yesterday.
The ban was imposed on Maruf, the then Sheikh Russel KC coach, for demanding the resignation of all the PLFC members, accusing them of favouring big clubs in the Bangladesh Premier League by rescheduling their matches, in February this year. Maruf has subsequently apologised for his remarks after a show-cause notice was served on him by the BFF.
"I have been suspended for something I have already apologised for," said Maruf.
