Magistrate records statement of BNP leader Mujibur
The judicial magistrate's court in Sunamganj yesterday recorded statements of BNP leader Mujibur Rahman, a Bangladeshi expatriate in the UK, and his car driver Rezaul Haque Sohel on their abduction incident.
Judicial Magistrate Shyam Kanto Sinha recorded the statements. However, he did not give details of the recorded statements.
On completion of their recordings, Mujibur and Rezaul were allowed to stay their homes in the district town, said Suronjit Talukder, inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), also the Sunamganj camp in charge.
The CID will now do the rest of the investigation as the case has been transferred to it for further investigation, he added.
Mujibur and Rezaul were kept in police custody till yesterday for the sake of investigation although they were taken to Sunamganj from the capital on August 19, said Sunamganj police.
They were freed on August 18 near Tongi in Gazipur after three and a half months of their abduction.
