Logitech G402

Professional gaming – also known as E-sports – is a multibillion dollar industry with many e-sport “athletes” competing for large prizes. The players themselves are revered as real athletes by their fans and they are always under the pressure of performing to the very best of their skill lest they lose a crucial match because of a dip in their skill level. Alongside this, many external factors can influence the outcome of a match: faulty hardware and low-quality gaming gears being two of the most common. Thus, pro gamers equip themselves with the best. Be it their mice, keyboards, surfaces or headsets; the best performance is paramount to gamers.
In this review, we will be looking at the Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury. The mouse has an optical sensor which is a contrast to the gaming mice of today which are equipped with laser sensors. Regardless, the mouse feels like the fruit of Logitech's labor to develop a better gaming mouse. There is zero acceleration, thanks to Logitech's Digital Zero technology. Logitech's Fusion Engine ensures the mouse sensor does not fail when it is used at breakneck speeds so it can also cater to the most skillful of gamers who are proficient in pulling off fast flick shots.
The mouse has 8 programmable buttons which can be configured in Logitech's software. There are a maximum of 5 DPI levels that can be set and switched to on the fly. It can be set to a maximum of 4000 DPI which is more than enough for professional gamers considering the fact that many keep their DPIs at the 800-2000 range.
While the design of the mouse looks very sophisticated and complex, it is simple to hold and use. One might think that all those buttons could be mis-pressed during intense gaming sessions but they are actually meticulously placed so that they do not interfere with your finger's natural resting positions.
There are lights to indicate the DPI level and a stylized backlit “G” logo. The brightness of the logo's light is adjustable from within the software and there is also an option for toggling a “breathing” effect which essentially means the light will slowly pulsate; the speed at which the light “breathes” is also adjustable.
While all the features of this mouse are top notch the lack of a braided cable is quite unsettling as many of gaming the mice that I have used came with a braided cable. The importance of a braided cable is not only based on durability, however, braided cables are much easier to “elevate” so that they do not create unnecessary drag on your movements.
Regardless, the Logitech G402 is a solid offering at the price of 3500 taka. It will cater to any right-handed gamer looking for a mid-range gaming mouse which can hold its own against the higher end models.
