Micro Sunglasses: The new cool

If you've been on social media any time this year, you must have come across just about every celebrity posing with these tiny little glasses. Whether they are headed to the beach or the red carpet, these influencers cannot seem to drop this trend even for a second! The 'micro sunglasses' trend is an accurate representation of how the 90's is totally making a comeback this year. And hey, what can we even say; we're bottom-line obsessed!

The trend surfaced sometime last year when the Kar-Jenner as well as the Hadid sisters started wearing different shapes of 'micro sunglasses.' Thanks to their social media posts, the internet was quick to catch on and soon enough, pictures of our favourite social icons started popping up all over the internet.

Earlier this year, fast fashion brands (alongside luxury labels) were swift to catch up with the on-going trend, and started carrying micro eyewear. Some carried basic styles, while others started designing unique shapes; ultimately letting this trend reach its peak of popularity.

Until this point, the whole micro sunglasses trend was more focused on social media and fashion magazines. It finally hit the mainstream when Kylie Jenner showed up at the 2018 Met Gala and Rihanna at the Cannes Film festival, both in custom-designed micro shades, rocking the trend effortlessly!

Since then, people are indecisive on whether to jump on the bandwagon or to avoid it completely. This love-hate affair arises due to the fact that these shades are impractical to be worn in the real world. Some find it cool for an Instagram post or two. But in reality, it's nothing but an accessory that doesn't actually do what sunglasses are supposed to do - which is to protect our eyes from harsh sunlight. We are not sure if owning such a pair would be a good investment.

The ones against the trend categorise these tiny glasses as straight-up ugly.

For those of us who dig this style, keeping up with the trend is what we do best and in this scenario, we're actually living for this retro, 90's, mini-sunglass-situation! If you like the look of it and would love to pair it with your outfits, we are 100 percent behind you. At the end of the day, fashion should be all about trying new things and having fun!

Tips to pull them off-

Trial before you buy (if you can find them in a physical store).

Place the glasses just a little above the tip of your nose to get the best look.
