Chinese Food Festival held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon
The five day long Chinese Food Festival official began on the 3rd of November in the city's Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel. The five day festival was seen as a celebration of Chinese culture whilst also serving as a reminder of China's far reaching socio-economic influences. Given Bangladesh's decades old infatuation with "Deshi" Chinese cuisine, this festival offered numerous opportunities to get a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine, which beats the imitation by miles.
7 Chinese chefs from all over China participated in this festival. Not only did they prepare numerous gastronomicaldelights and served up the ultimate al fresco experience, they also conducted live demonstrations and even creative cooking workshops. These were interspersed with flamboyant performances which left spectators enthralled. The festival wasn't just a culinary celebration but also acted as a conduit for exchanging ideas between the Bangladeshis and their Chinese counterparts, both of whom lean towards even closer ties in the near future.
General manager of the hotel, EJ Mc Ewan said that he had a lot of hopes from this festival this year. "This festival aims to highlight Chinese food and its importance in our culture and also its impact on a global scale," he said. Top dignitaries from the Embassy of China and Information Ministry graced the occasion. Honourable Ambassador of the Embassy of China, His Excellency Ma Minqiang was the special guest of honour while Mr. Hasanul Haq Inu was also invited as the chief guest.
