D.C.C market shops re-allotted at Jamuna Future Park

After being devastated by the fire that rampaged through Gulshan D.C.C market, the store owners finally see some light. Jamuna Group has allotted stores to the distressed businessmen, at their 5 star market, Jamuna Future Park, at significant discount prices. Thanks to Jamuna, the store owners will now be able to operate their business just like before.

A signing ceremony had been arranged between Jamuna Future Park and the devastated wholesalers from Gulshan D.C.C. market. Present at the occasion were the Managing Director of Jamuna Group-Shamim Islam, Director- Monica Islam, Director- Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Alam, General Manager-Shahed Ali, and DGMs-Debashish Kumar Roy and Kamrul Hassan

On the occasion, the former vendors of Gulshan D.C.C market informed the media, that all the popular products from the burnt down market will now be available at Jamuna Future Park. They also welcomed their old clients and other guests, to visit the brand new stores at Jamuna Future Park, to avail required products.

Foodiez Choice Award

Every year, foodiez.com.bd rewards the top restaurants, restaurant personalities and food photography enthusiasts of Dhaka for their contribution in the industry. The voting round of Foodiez Choice Award officially ends on 7 February, 2017. Everyone had to register online and vote for their favourite restaurants, owners, managers, chefs. 

Coca-Cola is the title sponsor of this year's award and The Daily Star has organised the poll with The Westin as hospitality partner. Final winners will be announced after 20 February. The grand finale will take place on the second week of March and awards will be given in the following categories - Best Cuisine (inclusive of 10 types of cuisine separately), Best in Food Items (of 5 top picks), Personalities of 2016 and other special categories. Top award winning restaurants will also get special promotion and placements for the food lovers of Bangladesh. This time, it is not only restaurants that will get the award, but also for the Top Foodiez who would review and rate the deserving restaurants.

Prizes for Top Foodiez will include a one night stay in a deluxe room with buffet breakfast for two at Seasonal Tastes in The Westin, one couple dinner at Seasonal Tastes and one couple lunch at Seasonal Tastes.

Kurkure stall at the Dhaka International Trade Fair '17 had created much hype. Five different variants of 'chaat' prepared with Kurkure were available there. Exhibition by Institute of Fine Arts

Annual Art Exhibition 2016 by the Department of Craft of the Faculty of Fine Arts is currently running at the Institute of Fine Arts (Charukola Institute), University of Dhaka. Professor Dr. Nasrin Ahmad, Pro-VC (Education) of Dhaka University, was the Chief Guest of the opening ceremony who inaugurated the exhibition and awarded the students. Famed artist Professor Abdus Shakoor Shah was the Special Guest. The opening ceremony was presided by Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka. 

The exhibition showcases crafts, designs, and sketches by the students and teachers of the Department of Craft. An ode to the Bengali tradition and femininity is being felt throughout the gallery. 

The exhibition will continue till 8 February, 2017 (business hours: 10am to 8pm).
