Murder case filed 19 years ago: Shariatpur court sets March 18 for delivering verdict
A Shariatpur court today rescheduled -- for March 18 -- the delivery of verdict of a murder case filed 19 years ago, over the deaths of Public Prosecutor Habibur Rahman and his brother.
Judge Md Showkat Hossain of the Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court set the fresh date around 10:40am today as the judgement has not been prepared completely, Aminul Islam Hiron, bench assistant of the court, told The Daily Star.
On February 28, the court set today's date for delivering the verdict.
Among total 53 accused, 13 are now on bail, 26 are behind bars, another 13 are on the run, and one died during the trial.
Shariatpur district court's Public Prosecutor Habibur Rahman, also joint general secretary of district unit of Awami League, and his brother Monir Hossain were shot dead at their house in Sadar upazila while campaigning for the 8th parliamentary polls on October 5, 2001.
