5 get life term in Khulna murder case
A Khulna court today sentenced five people to life imprisonment for killing a man in 2013.
The court also fined each Tk 20,000, in default of which the convicts will have to serve in jail for another six months, our Khulna correspondent reports.
Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court-1 Judge Md Yakub Hossain announced the verdict in presence of the five accused in the murder case.
The convicts are Mamun Gazi, Mosharaf Hossain, Nuru Rahman, Sheikh Sajidur Rahman, and Sheikh Motiar Rahman. All of them are residents of Khulna's Koyra upazila.
Public Prosecutor Emon Ilias Khan said that Akbar Ali (70), who worked in a pharmacy in Naksha village of Koyra upazila, was stabbed to death by miscreants on July 5, 2013.
The victim's son -- Rabiul Islam -- filed a murder case accusing six people.
One of the accused died on December 23, 2013, and later his name was dropped from the charge sheet.
