Land disputes leave 2 dead in Rajshahi, Sirajganj
Two people were killed in clashes over land dispute in Sirajganj and Rajshahi districts on Tuesday.
In Sirajganj, a man was killed and five others were injured in a clash over taking control of a disputed land in Kazipur upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased is Dudu Miah, 70, of Shalgram village in the upazila, reports our Pabna correspondent.
Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Dudu Miah Gong and Musa Matobbar Gong of the area over the land.
As a sequel to the conflict, the supporters of the duo attacked each other with lethal weapons, leaving at lest six people from both sides injured at 6:30pm on Tuesday.
Of the injured, Dudu was rushed to the upazila health complex where he died at 7:30pm.
The body was sent to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said officer in-charge of Kazipur police station Md Abdul Jalil.
Three people were arrested in connection with the incident, said the OC.
Away in Rajshahi, a man was hacked to death allegedly by his neighbours over land dispute at Bhatapara Krishnapur village in Puthia upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Sadhan Kumar, 35, son of Bhobesh of the village, reports UNB.
Sadhan's wife Joytsna said there had been a longstanding conflict between her husband and their neighbour Nitai over the ownership of the land.
On the fateful day, Sadhan had an altercation with Nitai over the issue around 10:00pm.
At one stage, Nitai along with his wife, daughter and son attacked Sadhan with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police rushed in, recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for an autopsy, said OC of Puthia police station Abu Obaida.
Joytsna filed a case against Nitai, his wife Sheuli, daughter Minoti and son Lalon with the police station.
