Killers of my father abducted me
Parvin Akter, a ward councillor of Gazipur City Corporation, who was rescued on Saturday night, around 37 hours after she was abducted, yesterday said the accused killers of her father kidnapped her to threaten her into withdrawing the murder case.
Talking to journalists at a press briefing at Gazipur Police Station, she claimed that Dulal Haji, the prime accused in the case, kidnapped her and threatened to kill her unless she withdrew the case.
Parvin, who had filed the case, claimed Dulal, a local land broker, along with Jewel and Sohel, brutally killed her father Chan Miah in 2011 over a land dispute.
She said on Thursday night an unknown woman called her over phone and asked her to solve a family dispute. Parvin met the woman the next morning to look into the matter.
At one point, the woman asked Parvin to get into a microbus. However, when she was getting inside the vehicle she saw that Dulal, Jewel, Sohel and five to six others were inside it.
“They forced me inside the microbus and drove away with me in it. After sometime, Dulal pressed a handkerchief over my nose and I became unconscious,” she said.
When Parvin regained consciousness, she saw that she was in a room with the woman and three to four unknown men.
“They beat me up and ordered me to withdraw the murder case. Then they knocked me out again,” Parvin said.
When she woke again she was in the microbus which was on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. The kidnappers tied her hands and legs and gagged her before leaving her beside the highway in Habiganj.
With help from an auto-rickshaw driver, she went to a local market and managed to call her husband.
Parvin's husband Minhajul Islam filed an abduction case with Joydebpur Police Station accusing Dulal, Sohel, Jewel and six others.
Superintendent of Gazipur Police Abdul Baten said they were trying to arrest the abductors.
