Int'l rights bodies condemn
International rights organisations yesterday strongly condemned the attempted abduction of director of investigation of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) Nur Khan, and feared that it merely aimed at stopping his activities.
The organisations are The Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, a joint programme of the World Organisation Against Torture and the International Federation for Human Rights, and the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development. The Observatory urges the government to ensure an impartial investigation into the incident to bring the perpetrators to book. Nur on Thursday said six to seven people on a microbus tried to abduct him while returning home near his ASK office in the capital.
