India thump Afghanistan by 8 wickets
India cruised to a eight-wicket win over Afghanistan in the ninth match of the Asia Cup at Mirpur in the capital today.
Indian openers put up solid performances to topple the small target of 159 set by the Afghans, chasing it down with 106 balls left.
Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane hit 60 and 65 respectively to guide the chase.
Earlier, Afghanistan were all-out for 159 as Indian bowlers ran through their batting order with ferocity.
Spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravindrachandran Ashwin took seven wickets between them to derail the Afghan inings.
Samiullah Shenwari was the lone batsman to make any sizable contribution with a fifty off 73 balls.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl.
