Housewives murdered
A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws at Bishla village in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur over a family feud on Friday.
The deceased is Aditi Rani, 20, wife of Jibon Chandra Roy, 25, of the village.
Aditi, daughter of Monoranjan Chandra Roy of Senra village in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur district, married Jibon, son of Prohlad Chandra Roy, three and a half years ago. The couple has a son aged about one and a half years.
Jibon and his family members had an altercation with Aditi over a trifling matter on Friday afternoon. At one stage, they beat up Aditi mercilessly that resulted in her death instantly.
After the incident, they hung the body from the ceiling of their house and told locals that Aditi committed suicide by hanging herself. They also took preparations to cremate her body without informing the deceased parents or police.
In Taraganj upazila, police arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife over family feud at Jhakuapara village on Saturday night.
The alleged killer was identified as Rahmatullah, 35, son of Yasin Ali of the village while the deceased was Hasna Begum, 25, daughter of Sultan Hossain of Santashpur village under Badarganj upazila of the district.
Police and locals said, Rahmatullah married off Hasna around ten years ago.
Four months ago, without informing his wife, Rahmatullah married again over the issue, he locked in an altercation with Hasna and at around 1:00am, Rahmatullah beat her up mercilessly and at one stage strangled Hasna. The following night villagers on suspicion went to his house and found the body.
Later, they captured Rahmatullah and informed police.
