Highest Covid-19 deaths: 231 die, 13,321 infected in 24hrs

Death toll crosses 18,000-mark

Two hundred and thirty-one people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 18,125 and the death rate stands at 1.62 percent. This is the highest number of Covid-19 deaths reported in a single day since the pandemic started in the country.

At least 13,321 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 11,17,310, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 29.59 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.30 percent.

A total of 45,012 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 9,335 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 9,41,343 and the recovery rate at 84.25 percent.

Among the 231 deceased, 136 were men and 95 were women.

Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, six were within 21-30, nine between 31-40, 33 between 41-50, 43 between 51-60, 74 between 61-70, 44 within 71-80, 17 were between 81-90, and four within 91-100 years old, added the release.
