7 Covid-19 deaths, 256 new infections recorded in 24 hours

Seven people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 27,880, and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent.

At least 256 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,70,238, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 1.31 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.09 percent.

A total of 19,523 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 237 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,34,073 and the recovery rate at 97.70 percent.

Of the seven deceased, five were men and two were women. Of them, two were between 41-50 years old; one was within 61-70; one was between 71-80; two were within 81-90; and one was between 91-100 years old, added the release.
