2 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours, lowest in over a year and half

Two people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This is the lowest number of deaths due to Covid-19 -- recorded in 24 hours -- in over a year and half.
The total number of deaths has now reached 27,870, and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent.
At least 214 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,69,753 added the release.
The current positivity rate is 1.08 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.14 percent.
A total of 19,734 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 202 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,33,625 and the recovery rate at 97.70 percent.
Both the deceased were women. Of them, one was within 31-40 years old and another was within 51-60, added the release.
