2 Covid-19 deaths, 227 new cases recorded in 24 hours

Two people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 27,980 and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent.

At least 227 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,76,011, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 1.34 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.50 percent.

A total of 16,891 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8 am today).

At least 280 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,40,597 and the recovery rate at 97.75 percent.

Both of the deceased were men.

Of them, one was between 61-70 years old and another was within 71-80, added the release.
