18 die at Covid unit of RMCH in 24 hours
Eighteen people have died at the Covid unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in 24 hours, till 8 am today.
Among them, four died of Covid-19 and 14 with symptoms, reports our Rajshahi staff correspondent.
Of the deceased, eight were from Rajshahi district, four from Natore, two each from Pabna and Chapainawabganj and one each from Naogaon and Kushtia districts, confirmed RMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani.
"During the time, 224 people got tested for Covid-19 at two labs of the hospital and results of 57 came positive. Considering the test, the positivity rate is 25.44 percent," he said.
Despite the addition of new wards and beds, the number of patients is going up at RMCH, reports our correspondent.
The Covid unit has 513 beds including 20 ICUs. Already 436 patients are being treated with 45 new patients admitted in 24 hours till 8 am today.
