Hasina to meet AL nomination seekers Nov 24
The Awami League yesterday closed the sale of nomination forms, bringing in, as per The Daily Star's calculations based on information the party provided every day since the sale began on November 10, around Tk 7.4 crore from 2,959 forms.
On the contrary, AL Deputy Press Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das told journalists yesterday that 2,608 forms were sold, each at Tk 25,000, at the AL central office in the capital's Bangabandhu Avenue for the 300 parliamentary constituencies.
AL President Sheikh Hasina will meet the nomination seekers at Gono Bhaban on November 24.
Yesterday, 216 forms were sold worth Tk 54 lakh. The sale began with 678 on Sunday and then continued with 476 on Monday, 322 on Tuesday, 293 on Wednesday, 464 on Thursday and 510 on Saturday.
Throughout the week, massive rallies of vehicles were brought out by the nomination seekers in the capital to woo party high-ups in their favour, subsequently causing long tailbacks and public sufferings.
Yesterday, AL leaders Afsarul Amin, Habibur Rahman Siraj, Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul, BM Mojammel Haque, Simin Hossain Rimi, Momtaj Begum, Mosharrof Hossain Raja and former Bangladesh Chattra League leaders Probir Goswami Babu and Aktaruzzaman Babu collected forms.
