Happy New Year 2015

Looking back at 2014 of Star Showbiz, we realized that we have had quite an exciting year. From newcomers to the media to those who make it what it is, we've had the opportunity to bring the most talked about celebrities of Bangladesh to the Showbiz cover. We've been lucky to be able to feature the Bangla Bond Ananta Jalil, who became a magnet drawing people to cinema halls across the country a few years ago. The true testament of a versatile and talented actor is to what extent he can engage his audience, and in that respect – Ananta is the most successful actor of Bangladesh in his own way. But we haven't only limited ourselves to the biggest stars, but focused on fresh talent as well such as Mahiya Mahi, who has really been the breakout actor of Bangladesh in 2014. With the film Agnee earlier this year, we found a movie that dared to do what is not commonly seen in mainstream movies – bringing a female character to the silver screen as the lead character, as the protagonist. And, given how audiences have thronged cinema halls in the first two weeks of Agnee's release, it is evident that the Bangladesh audience is ready for films that push the envelope and break out of the norm, presenting fresh stories that do not depend on a fixed formula. From Anusheh, the soul singer, urban baul and a businessperson, Apurbo, who has successfully re-launched his second innings in the media as an actor, and growing names such as Bidya Sinha Mim and Zakia Bari Mamo, Star Showbiz has truly been a diverse platform for Bangladesh's most talented performers. We've also been privy to every event surrounding films and the world of glamour, which in itself is a major achievement for a publication less than two years of age. We've brought you James, the man who has done it all musically, having sung for albums, singles, Bangladeshi mainstream movies, advertisements and even Bollywood movies, and Arnob, one of the most talented musicians who now wishes to try his hand at film making! He already has a story in mind and even a script. Before the year ends, we wanted to feature twelve selected celebrities together on one cover in a special new year's issue.
