According to police and local Awami League sources, the BNP cadres swooped on Akhtherul Alam Sham, also a ward commissioner of Char Fashion Municipality, on his way to Bhola district town in the morning. They beat up Sham, cut the tendons and left the scene riding motorbikes.
The critically injured Jubo League leader was admitted to Char Fashion Health Complex and later shifted to Barisal Sher-e- Bangla Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
A case was filed with Char Fashion police.
