Judiciary treated unfairly by all governments

Says chief justice

Successive governments treated the judiciary unfairly and the administration never wanted the judiciary to run independently, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha said yesterday.

The judiciary provided protection to the administration too and the bureaucracy always considered judiciary as its contender, he added.

The CJ was speaking at a reception for him hosted by Habiganj District Bar Association at the Bar library.

Sinha said administrative officials seek justice from the judiciary after being denied protection at their respective departments. The judiciary then plays a role in upholding their rights.

“Mere money is not enough to develop a country. To do that, a country must have to prevent corruption, ensure independence of judiciary and rule of law,” he observed.

District and Sessions Judge Md Atabullah, among others, spoke at the programme, chaired by advocate Abdul Mosabbir.
