Four Awami League activists, including a union parishad chairman, were injured in a gun attack following a feud over upcoming upazila polls in Sharsha on Monday night.
The injured are Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan, chairman of Laksmanpur union parisahd, Asaduzzaman Shaha of Dhannokhola village, Shohidul Islam of Bhoberber village in Sharsha upazila and Benapole port labourer Shahadat.
Mosharraf Hossain, officer in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said a gang attacked the AL activists with firearms, bombs and lethal weapons, leaving them injured while they were discussing the upcoming upazila elections with Bahadurpur UP chairman Mizanur Rahman in front of his house around 10:00pm.
Of them, Kamal, Asha and Shohidul were admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital while Shahadat to Sharsa Upazila Health Complex with bullet injuries.
Asha, supporter of UP chairman Kamal, blamed the followers of upazila chairman aspirant Abdul Manna Minnu for the attack.
