Senegal clean up at Spartak

Senegal capitalised on the mistakes by Poland to secure a 2-1 win in their World Cup Group H encounter at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow on Tuesday night.

However after the fans were done revelling in the first win by an African team at this World Cup, they stayed behind and helped clean the stands, following an example set by Japanese fans earlier in the day, in a gesture appreciated on social media by the watching world.

An interesting fact about this particular group of Senegalese players is that none of them ply their trade in the country's domestic league. In fact, each player in the 23-member squad plays in a foreign league.

Seven players are in the England's Premier League while as many play in France's Ligue 1. Three others are employed in Italy's Serie A while another is at Germany's Bundesliga side Hannover. A further two each are from Belgium's Eredivisie and Turkey's Super Lig.

Maluma robbed of $800,000

Colombian singer Maluma had nearly $800,000 worth of valuables stolen from his hotel room in Moscow, according to reports.

According to TASS, intruder who posed as Maluma's guest was given a duplicate keycard to Maluma's room.

Yashin notes in short supply

Distrusted at first by some as dodgy cash, a special World Cup 100-rouble banknote with a picture of iconic Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin has become a collectors' item, with Russians willing to pay several times its face value to get their hands on it.

"We've run out of them. We were told we may get more but we're not 100 per cent sure. We're still waiting," said Marina Gorbunova, a bank teller at the Sberbank branch in central Yekaterinburg.
