Zayed Khan files contempt petition against Nipun

Film actor Zayed Khan today filed a contempt of court petition with the Supreme Court's Appellate Division against actress Nipun Akter taking over as the general secretary (GS) of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association (BFAA) in violation of the apex court order.

In the petition, Zayed Khan prayed to the Appellate Division to initiate the contempt of court proceedings against Nipun, Zayed Khan's lawyer Ahsanul Karim told The Daily Star.

The lawyer said he will place the contempt of court petition before the Appellate Division on Sunday.

On February 15, Zayed Khan served a contempt of court notice to Nipun for taking over the post of GS in violation of the Appellate Division's order.

In the notice, he said the chamber judge of the Supreme Court's Appellate Division on February 9 stayed the HC order that halted the authorities' decision of cancelling the candidacy of Zayed Khan and declaring Nipun as GS of the association.
