Jaya Ahsan to star alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Hindi web series
Popular Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan is set to share the screen with Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a Hindi web series, as reported by Anandabazar.
Directed by Sayantan Mukherjee, the web series is based on the 1967 Naxalbari uprising, which was led by the Indian revolutionary leader Charu Majumdar. The revolt was an armed peasant movement in the Naxalbari village of the Siliguri subdivision in Darjeeling district, West Bangla
The character of Charu Majumdar will be played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui while the role of his wife, Lila Majumder will be played by Jaya Ahsan.
The web series is based on the novel "Sada Ami Kalo Ami" written by former police officer Runu Guha Niyogi. The book was published in three languages — Bengali, Hindi and English.
Sayantan Mukherjee plans to initiate a three- episode web series to showcase the story of the revolt.
The first episode will highlight the story from 1947 to 1972, while the second one will be on 1972 to 1990. The last episode will be based on 1990 through the present day.
There are plans to shoot the web series in Kolkata, Mumbai, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh as well as China and Russia.
Sayantan wants to start the shooting of the web series before Puja next year.
There are initial talks to get Sabyasachi Chakraborty in the role of the then Chief Minister, the late Siddhartha Shankar Roy. The producers are also inclined to cast Saswata Chatterjee in the role of Kanu Sanyal, one of Charu Majudar's trusted companions.
