DC fans won't have to wait too long for the return of the "Man of Steel". James Gunn has officially announced that the sequel to "Superman" will be titled "Superman: Man of Tomorrow" and will hit theatres worldwide on July 9, 2027.

The announcement comes just months after "Superman" starring David Corenswet stormed the global box office, breaking records and ranking among the year's top-grossing films. The sequel forms part of Gunn's carefully mapped DC Studios slate, arriving after the 2026 release of "Supergirl" starring Milly Alcock and before Matt Reeves' "The Batman Part II", currently scheduled for October 1, 2027.

Alongside the release date, Gunn offered fans a glimpse of the story direction by sharing a comic panel of Superman facing off against Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) in his iconic Warsuit. In DC lore, the high-tech armor was created by Luthor to rival Superman's powers, enabling him to physically challenge the hero in ways he never could before.

The first film already set up Luthor's obsession, showing his attempt to defeat Superman with a clone—a plan that ultimately failed. Now, with the Warsuit teased, the sequel promises a more direct and personal showdown between hero and villain, likely leaning into one of Luthor's most enduring comic storylines.

With "Man of Tomorrow", Gunn signals a continuation of his fresh take on DC's most enduring character while setting the stage for a clash that could become one of the defining battles of the new DC Universe.
