HC to hear rule over cancellation of Zayed’s candidacy on Feb 22

The High Court today fixed February 22 for hearing on the rule regarding the cancellation of actor Zayed Khan's candidacy and declaring actress Nipun as general secretary (GS) of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association (BFAA).

The HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman set the date after Nipun's lawyer Rokanuddin Mahmud sought time for submitting relevant documents before it.

Yesterday, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld its chamber judge's order regarding holding of the office of BFAA's general secretary saying that the issue will be settled at the HC.

The SC chamber judge on February 9 stayed the HC order that halted the authorities' decision cancelling the candidacy of Zayed and declaring Nipun as GS.
