‘Chhello Show’ to represent India at Oscars 2023

The coming-of-age drama, "Chhello Show" (The Last Show), a Gujarati language film, has been chosen as India's official entry for the 95th Academy Awards, in the foreign language category. The announcement was made by the Film Federation of India (FFI) today.
"Chhello Show" beat the controversial film, "The Kashmir Files", and "RRR" in the race for the Oscar nomination.
The Gujarati movie, directed by Pan Nalin, had its world premiere as the opening film at the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, in June of last year. The movie is inspired by Nalin's own memories of falling in love with movies as a child in a rural setting within the state of Gujarat.
"The film, 'Chhello Show' is India's official entry for the Oscars 2023," said FFI Secretary General Supran Sen. The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur's banner, Roy Kapur Films, Jugaad Motion Pictures, Monsoon Films, Chhello Show LLP, and Marc Duale.
The movie, which has cast Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval, and Paresh Mehta, bagged multiple awards during its run on the festival circuit, including the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid Film Festival in Spain.
