Bangladesh makes its first mark at Révélations Biennial in Paris

Bangladeshi artist Suborna Morsheada made an impressive debut at the Révélations International Fine Craft & Creation Biennial in Paris, with support from the Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation.
The prestigious event, running at the Grand Palais from May 21 to 25, was inaugurated by French President Emmanuel Macron in a celebration of global culture and creative innovation. Notably, over 400 artists from around the world usually showcase their artwork.

Morsheada's installation, "Against All Odds – The Korail Chronicles", marked Bangladesh's first appearance at Révélations. Her work reimagines Dhaka's Korail settlement not as a symbol of poverty but of resilience and ingenuity.
Crafted from recycled materials, the project includes three evocative parts: "The Phoenix of Renewal" (a sculpture of transformation), "Quilts of Resilience" (kantha-stitched narratives of everyday strength), and "Threads of Hope" (dream catchers expressing the aspirations of Korail's people).
Artist Sajidul Haque later joined the project, enhancing its emotional depth. Together, they offered a compelling story of endurance and creativity on a global platform.
