I have a history of failing at everything: Kabir Suman

Renowned singer Kabir Suman will be performing in Dhaka after almost 13 years. The tickets for the three-day musical events have already been sold out. The organisers arranged a press conference on Wednesday at Bishwa Shahitya Kendra to reveal the last-minute preparations for the event.
Kabir Suman couldn't join the event physically, but attended the event online. The singer expressed immense gratitude towards the Bangladeshi government, the organising committee, and to his fans.
Many have said that Kabir Suman's songs dwell on the harsh realities of human life. However, the singer refuses to believe that.
"Many people have this perception that my songs centre around life and its many problems. However, it isn't the whole truth. I am not truly someone who labels my music, as I don't want to put my music into a box. My only desire is to perform modern Bengali songs which touch the hearts of the audiences," said the singer.
The singer will be performing Bangla Khayal on the second day of his concert. He remembered Bangladesh's eminent Khayal artist, Azad Rahman in his video.
There was a time Kabir Suman would perform his songs while playing his guitar. However, he is no longer able to do that, due to physical complications. The "Tomake Chai" singer said, "I used to be able to play the guitar while singing, but my carpal tunnel has made me weak. Thus, I can't play the strings of my guitar. But I am really happy that I can at least play my keyboard."
Kabir Suman has come to know, through the organisers, that the young Bangladeshi audience are very interested to attend his concert. The popular singer was surprised by this news. He also made a special request to his fans, requesting them to follow their hopes and dreams with full dedication.
"I know that they want to listen to my song live, but I have a special request for my young audience as well. I want them to have a consistent life goal, which they pursue with all of their hearts. I want them to determine what they want to do in their life and follow that dream," said the singer.
"I remember that I used to be a really bad student, who wasn't interested in studies. As a result, I used to fail at everything. I used to run away from school, as I didn't want to be there. None of the schools wanted to give me admission, and my parents were concerned about my future. However, now all of you have taken this failure, Kabir Suman, into your country to perform. I will urge everyone to chase your dream and excel in it no matter what," urged the singer.
The event, "Kabir Suman Live in Dhaka", will take place on October 15, 18, and 21 at the main auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum. The programme will mark the 30th year of the release of Suman's popular solo album, "Tomake Chai". The noted singer will be performing his modern Bengali songs and Bangla Khayal at the three-day musical event.
