Eid celebrated at some villages

Thousands of people in different areas of the country yesterday celebrated Eid-ul-Azha in conformity with Saudi Arabia, although the vast majority of the Muslims across the country will observe it on Monday following local moon sighting.
Eid congregations were held at 80 places of 10 upazilas under Barisal, Patuakhali, Bhola, Jhalakati and Barguna districts yesterday as around 50 thousand people of 12 thousand families observed the occasion, reports our Barisal correspondent.
They are residents of Madhavpasha, Kedarpur, Tajkati, Talukdar Char, Nishan Baria, Haji Banshkati of Babuganj upazila, Sundarkati of Bakerganj, and Harinafulia of Sadar upazila of Barisal, Galachipa, Baufal, Kalapara and Sadar upazilas of Patuakhali, Charfashion upazila of Bhola, Taltali of Barguna and Nalchhity upazila of Jhalakati district.
"We usually observe religious festivals and customs according to the lunar calendar and systems followed in Saudi Arabia," said Abdur Rashid, a follower of the tradition.
Golam Mir Md Fazlul Huq, another adherent, said they do it as per the direction of their religious leader -- Pir Shaheb of Mariachi Darbar Sharif of Satkania under Chittagong district.
Our Patuakhali Correspondent reports: Over 30,000 people of 25 villages under the district observed Eid-ul-Azha yesterday.
The people, mostly the followers of 'Kaderia Tarika', arranged Eid congregations in different areas of Patuakhali Sadar, Baufal, Galachipa and Kalapara upazilas.
They also slaughtered sacrificial animals.
The villages that saw celebration of the festival yesterday are Badarpur in Sadar upazila, Dakkhin Devpur, Patua, Nishanbaria, Morichbunia, Safakhali, Ajimuddin, Tegachia, Chinkhola, Badurtali and Naiya Patti in Kalapara upazila, Dakua, Fultali, Chotobaishdia, Rangabali and Katakhali in Galachipa upazila, Kanakdia, Indrokul, Shaplakhali,Modonpura, Dhaurabhanga, Boga, Dipasha, Narayanpasha and Taterkathi in Baufal upazila.
Many people in different upazilas of Moulvibazar and Dinajpur districts also celebrated Eid-ul-Azha yesterday.
