EBL, Diners Club launch 'elite cards'
Eastern Bank yesterday launched an exclusive range of cards in association with Diners Club International, a business unit of Discover Financial Services.
EBL and Diners Club plan to unveil a list of Bangladesh's “finest restaurants” through a local jury and voting, the bank said in a statement. Card users will be entitled to special privileges at the local top restaurants.
The cards will be tailored for EBL's elite clients and offer premium travel and lifestyle benefits, like direct access to the Diners Club Airport Lounge Programme, which allows access to more than 500 lounges worldwide, the bank announced at a press meet at a city hotel.
Primera and Ultima are the two variants of the new credit cards currently offered.
EBL will gradually introduce Diners Club credit, corporate and other cards to help build a cashless society and financial inclusion, it said.
Cardholders will also have complimentary access to the Sky Lounge services at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, and enjoy the elite and dedicated EBL Diners Club Concierge.
“EBL believes in innovation and service excellence. Partnering with Diners Club demonstrates our commitment to that belief where we are introducing new-to-the-market products as well as providing the customers with a world class service experience,” said Hassan O Rashid, acting managing director of EBL.
“Eastern Bank has established itself as a leading private commercial bank with undisputed leadership in corporate banking and consumer business,” said John McCann, Diners Club's regional managing director for Asia Pacific.
“This relationship will bring many new perks to consumers in Bangladesh as Diners Club International continues to execute upon its growth strategy throughout South Asia.”
