Dr Akbar Ali Khan joins TIB Board of Trustees
Dr Akbar Ali Khan, former adviser to a caretaker government and a former cabinet secretary, has been elected as a new member of Transparency International Bangladesh's (TIB) Board of Trustees.
The board elected him in its 78th meeting on November 2 and he accordingly joined the 79th meeting on Saturday, says a TIB press release received yesterday.
Dr Akbar attained a master's degree on history from Dhaka University, another on economics from Queens University of Canada and a doctorate degree.
He began his career with the Pakistan Civil Service in 1967 and was deputy secretary of the Mujibnagar government in exile during the 1971 Liberation War.
He served as a teacher after Bangladesh achieved independence and later served as a top government administration officer before retiring in 2001.
