Dhaka-Ctg-Sylhet train service resumes
Rail communications of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet were restored after four hours of disruption following a train derailment in Burichang upazila of Comilla today.
Railway sources said a wagon of the Dhaka-bound freight train from Chittagong veered off the tracks near Rasulpur area around 10:00am, reports a correspondent from Comilla.
Following the derailment, train services on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes remained suspended, said Hamidul Haque, engineer of Laksham Railway Station.
A rescue train from Laksam station rushed for the spot and managed to salvage the derailed train around 2:00pm, the engineer said.
No casualties were reported, the sources said.
UNB adds: A Dhaka-bound train “Subarna Express” got stranded at Comilla Rail Station following the derailment.
