Current JS club of clowns

Says Khaleda

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday said that current parliament had become a club of clowns, as songs, poems and dramas are being performed there instead of discussing any public issue.
She made the observation while speaking at an iftar party at a hotel in the capital.
Kazi Zafar Ahmed-led Jatiy Party, a new partner in the BNP-led 20-party alliance, organised the iftar party.
In her brief speech, Khaleda, also chief of the alliance, said her party would have no alternative to movement if the government doesn't sit in talks immediately for holding a fresh election.
“We still want to resolve the crisis and restore peace through talks. But it seems that the government is not sincere about talks,” she said, adding: “There is no government in the country now... The government is not bothered about public sufferings, unemployment and price hike of essentials.”
She said there was no security in the country as killings and enforced disappearances had been being taken place regularly.
“After looting money from public banks, the ruling party people are now busy looting money from private banks,” she said.
“We were an 18-party platform. Now it has become a 20-party alliance. Some other parties are also contacting us [to join the alliance]. We must now get united in the interest of the country and its people. We'll have to take to the  streets to force Sheikh Hasina government to hold a fresh and inclusive election,” she added.
Senior leaders of BNP and its allies, civil society members and diplomats from different countries, among others, were present.
