Rape and provoking suicide of tenth grade student: Accused still on the run
Police are yet to arrest a man accused of raping a schoolgirl after which she died by suicide in Noakhali's Subarnachar on March 1.
Fazle Rabbi Rubel, an employee of a tailoring shop in Noakhali Super Market, raped the tenth grader, while she was alone at her house in Charjubli union on February 25.
Charjabbar Police Station Inspector (investigation) Ibrahim Khalil said, "The accused, Fazle Rabbi Rubel, went into hiding and we are still trying to arrest him. We hope that we will be able to arrest him soon."
A few days after the rape incident, the victim attempted suicide. She was rushed to the local upazila health complex for treatment, where she died on March 1 while receiving treatment.
Her father filed a case with the local police station against Rabbi and an unknown man for the rape of his daughter and for provoking her suicide.
With seven days gone, the victim's uncle has demanded arrest of the accused as early as possible.
