Police shoot ‘muggers’ during scuffle in Chattogram
Two alleged muggers sustained bullet injuries during a scuffle as law enforcers tried to arrest them in Chattogram city last night, police claimed.
The injured are Imam Hossain, 30 and Arafat Hossain Suman, 35, reports our staff correspondent quoting Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Pahartali Zone of CMP Arif Hosen.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Sufal Das Shuvo of Akbar Shah Police Station and his team had set a trap at an auto-rickshaw garage to arrest the alleged muggers based on information.
When the SI tried to make the arrests around 9:30pm, the muggers became desperate and tried to stab him, triggering a scuffle, the AC claimed.
SI Sufal's team members fired shots in retaliation which hit the alleged muggers in their legs, he added.
The SI was also injured during the scuffle, the police official claimed.
The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
