Bogura student rape in 2017: Accused Tufan Sarker gets bail
A tribunal in Bogura today granted bail to suspended Sramik League leader Tufan Sarker in a sensational case filed for abducting and raping a student in 2017.
Fazlul Haque, judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Bogura passed the order this noon following a bail prayer filed by Tufan's lawyer, said Noresh Mukharjee, special public prosecutor of the tribunal.
Mukharjee told our Bogura correspondent that the High Court earlier ordered to dispose the case within six months after forming charges against the accused.
The district court formed charges against the ten accused including Tufan in February, 2020.
The public prosecutor further said the tribunal today granted bail to Tufan as the case was not disposed of even after 11 months of framing charges. "I strongly oppose the bail," he added.
With Tufan, all ten accused are now on bail in the case, added the lawyer.
