Cousin guns down youth in Rajshahi

A young man was shot dead allegedly by his cousin in Rajshahi city early today.

Deceased Md Likhan Ali, 20, was a resident of Dingaduba area in the city, reports our Rajshahi correspondent.

Khan M Arfan, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station, said Sohag, a cousin of Likhan, and his friend Jibon called the victim out of his residence around 12midnight.

They picked up Likhan on a motorbike, took him to nearby Silinda area and shot him, the OC said quoting the statement that the victim gave to police before his death.

Sohag and his friend fled the scene leaving Likhan critically wounded, the OC said.

Informed by locals, police rescued Likhan around 4:00am and rushed him to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.

Meantime, police recorded Likhan’s statement over the incident, the police official said.

Likhan succumbed to his injuries at RMCH around 5:00pm.

Later, police detained Shohag and also seized his blood-stained motorbike from his house in Dingaduba area.
