Youth killed in clash

A youth, who was seriously injured in a clash at Kalia village in Bagerhat Sadar upazila on Friday, died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka yesterday. The deceased is Jahangir Sheikh, 22, son of Israfil Sheikh of the village. Police and locals said there had been a longstanding conflict between UP member Atiar Sheikh and one Nuru Molla of the village. As a sequel to the enmity, both the groups equipped with sharp weapons locked in a fierce clash that left 16 people from both sides injured. Of the injured, Jahangir was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital and later referred to BSMMU where he died in the morning, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station.
