War crimes: 2 Moulvibazar accused sent to jail

A tribunal in Dhaka today sent two war crimes accused to jail this morning a day after their arrest from Moulvibazar in a case of crimes against humanity.

International Crimes Tribunal-1 fixed May 2 for passing next order in this war crimes case, Prosecutor Sabina Yasmin Munni told The Daily Star.

The accused are Abdul Aziz alias Habul, 63, of Pakhiala village under Barlekha upazila of Moulvibazar, and Abdul Mannan, 64, of Taradaram village of the same upazila.

Police arrested the two from the district yesterday, hours after the tribunal issued arrest warrants for three persons, who were allegedly involved in crimes committed during the Liberation War in 1971.

Police are trying to arrest the other accused, Prosecutor Munni said.

The accused were involved with Razakar Bahini, an auxiliary force of the Pakistan army, according to Shahjahan Kabir, the investigation officer of the case.
