Transport strike called off
Transport owners and workers of Panchagarh yesterday called off their indefinite strike on internal routes in the district following a fruitful meeting with the local administration. The meeting was held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner's office in the afternoon, said sources. The local administration in the meeting gave assurance to the transport leaders to stop plying of unauthorised vehicles on the roads and highways of the district within December 15. The strike was called on Sunday, demanding immediate ban on plying of three-wheelers like Nasiman, Kariman and Bhotbhoti on highways of the district. Panchagarh Transport Owners' Association and Panchagarh District Bus-minibus Transport Workers Union, Panchagarh District Transport Workers Union and Panchagarh District Truck and Tank Lorry Transport Workers union jointly enforced the strike.
