Road thru' school compound

A local influential man has built a brick road through the compound of a government primary school in Tagarbanda union under Alfadanga upazila of the district.
Sarder Habibur Rahman, headmaster of Mala Government Primary School, said after closing the school on Thursday, February 1, afternoon he went to his house.
He spotted the brick road passing through the school playground when he went to the school a day after on Saturday and informed the upazila nirbahi officer, upazila education officer and assistant commissioner (Land) of the matter.
The school, which has 161 students and six teachers, was established in 1951 on 40 decimals of land beside Alfadanga-Kashiani road and has two separate buildings.
Locals said Nawab Ali, brother of Deputy Attorney General MM Kamrul Hasan, erected the road on February 2 for smooth communication to and from their ancestral home.
On a recent visit to the area this correspondent saw Nawab, also president of the school managing committee, built a 60-foot-long and six-foot-wide brick road between the two academic buildings of the institution.
“Our house is just behind the school compound and we have no alternative way of communication,” Nawab said, adding that although they have been using the school ground as the lone way of communication, it is difficult for them in the rainy season as the field becomes muddy and slippery.
Nawab said when his father and uncle donated the land for the school they never thought about the present situation.
Hayatul Haque, a Class V student of the institution, said, “We cannot walk barefoot on our school playground due to stray brick-chips.”
Alfadanga Upazila Assistant Education Officer Laboni Roy said she already visited the school and will take necessary step in this regard soon.
