Students and teachers of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) department of Rajshahi University today formed a human chain protesting the rising incidents of rape across the country.

More than 100 students from different departments, mostly from MCJ, joined the demonstration and demanded justice for the rape victims.

The one-hour human chain was formed in front of the department at Rabindranath Tagore Bhaban since 12 noon, reports our RU correspondent.

After forming the human chain, speakers at the programme urged the government to take immediate steps to prevent such incidents.

According to a report of Manusher Jonno Foundation, 399 children were victims of rape and attempted rape in the last six months.

Of them, 44 were victims of attempted rape. Eight of the victims were boys, while 16 children were killed after rape. Sexual assault left 47 girls and two boys injured, it said.
