Father and an uncle of five-year-old Tuhin Miah, who was brutally killed in Sunamganj's Derai upazila on October 14 last year, were sentenced to death in the murder case.

Judge Wahiduzzaman of Sunamganj District and Sessions Judge's Court sentenced Tuhin's father Abdul Basir (40) and uncle Nasir Miah (35) to death. The court also acquitted two other uncles of Tuhin as allegation brought against them were not proven, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Public Prosecutor Samsunnahar Begum Shahana.

The body of Tuhin Miah was found hanging from a tree some 200 yards away from his home at Kejaura of in Derai upazila on October 14.

On March 10, a juvenile court ordered eight-year detention for a 17-year-old cousin of Tuhin in the murder case.
