Sylhet’s Hazrat Shahjalal shrine to be closed on Shab-e-Barat
The authorities concerned of the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet today announced it would be closed on the day of Shab-e-Barat (Thursday) and Friday to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The decision was taken today to avoid large gatherings at the shrine tomorrow and the day after.
A notice in this regard has been hanged on all of the gates of the shrine, our local correspondent reports.
Khadem of the mazar (shrine) Samun Mahmud Khan said no one can enter or offer prayers there during the two-day closure.
Thousands of people visit the mazar on the day of Shab-e-Barat every year, but this year the authorities decided to keep it shut to avoid the gatherings so that the Covid-19 disease could not spread, Samun added.
